Flamingo MCA Moses Gichangi has urged Nakuru county government to enhance security in Nakuru town especially in Kanu Street which has recently witnessed a series of murder of sex workers.

Speaking on Monday at Flamingo Ward, Nakuru Town East Constituency, after condoling the bereaved family of a slain sex worker, Mr Gichangi expressed concerns over the rising incidences of murder of sex workers along Kanu Street.

“The county government should do something to end these heinous acts perpetrated by unknown criminals," said Mr Gichangi.

He advocated for increased night patrols to combat the crimes.

“The county government should invest more in night patrols to ensure that criminals are flushed out of the area and arrested," he said.

He added that the county government has the responsibility of protecting the residents and their property and urged it to execute its mandate effectively.

The ward leader also warned residents to beware of criminals impersonating as police officers and using fake police ID badges and other credentials.

He however thanked the county government for combating crimes like carjacking in the county.

“The number of carjacking incidences have gone down and we urge the county government to deal with murder crimes," he noted.

Mr Gichangi's remarks comes in the wake of increased heinous criminal activities along Kanu Street and the residents have faulted the county government for failing to act ruthlessly against criminals.
