Megun Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Sugut on Saturday urged teachers to obey court directive and go back to class on Monday.

The MCA was speaking during the Third Edition of Moi University Kesses Community Peace Race which was held in the University.

"We are happy that the court ruled in favour of students, now teachers should obey and go back to class’," Sugut said.

He also added that children have given parents a huge budget while at home due to schools closure.

He also said that children spend a lot of time watching movies instead of studying to compensate for time lost during teachers' strike.

"Parents were forced to work extra hard to provide food to their children during the teachers strike, they will be relieved if schools reopen," the MCA said.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court through Judge Nelson Abuodha directed the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) to suspend the strike for 90 days to give dialogue a chance to end the stalemate.
