Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer has urged the members of the county assembly to play their oversight role well by ensuring that money allocated to projects in their wards meant is used to the latter without any misappropriation.
Speaking at the Uasin Gishu county assembly, Terer said that through proper oversight, cases of embezzlement of public funds will be a thing of the past, and will ensure that projects that are conducted by the executive arm of the government are of required standards and as per the money paid for the project.
"As per Kenya's constitution, county assemblies are mandated to oversight the executive, make budgets and to make laws, and that is why I urge members of county assembly to ensure that they put to task CeCs by over-sighting the projects conducted to avoid embezzlement of funds," he said.
He further urged MCAs to ensure that money allocated to their wards to partake projects such as water, building ECD Centers, and roads is well spent, and in case of any misappropriation, they should be held responsible.
He challenged Uasin Gishu residents to always ensure that their funds are well spent by their MCAs, by always inspecting the projects and also asking them questions whenever they feel there is misappropriation.
