Retired President Daniel arap Moi has asked politicians to exercise tolerance and desist from utterances that would divide the nation.
Speaking at Africa Inland Church (AIC) in Nakuru on Sunday, the former Head of State warned that engaging in tribal utterances will only polarise the country.
"There is no need of using words that will cause tension among communities. Politicians should work to bring harmony in the country,” he said.
Moi urged politicians to focus on development and fulfil the promises they made to Kenyans during campaigns.
At the same time, the retired president called on the church to be in the frontline in preaching unity. He said the church has a role to play in shaping the society through advice, counsel and prayers.
Moi presided over a fundraiser at the church where Sh1.2 million was raised. The money will be used to renovate and buy equipment for the church.
