Moiben Member of Parliament Sila Tiren has put on notice all business people employing school going children, warning them that they risk arrest and prosecution since it is against the children’s act.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Thursday, Tiren said that children have the right to education, and those employing them are breaking the law and will be prosecuted.

“I have received more than ten cases of minors being involved in illegal business such as sale of illicit brews and yet the national government has offered free and compulsory primary education,” he said.

“I will make sure that they are arrested and prosecuted, business persons opt to take minors since they are a source of cheap labour and cannot defend themselves,” he added.

He also warned parents who commit their children with business, instead of allowing them to attend school.

“I won’t tolerate such parents in my constituency since they are lowering the number of educated elites in the area, this cannot be tolerated and I will take action against them,” he concluded.
