Molo’s Moto estate residents want the police to beef up security in the area and curb increasing instances of crime.

The residents held peaceful protests on Tuesday after the killing of a form one student whose body was found dumped in a river.

The irate residents marched to the deputy sub-county offices where they demanded to be assured of their safety.

Led by the area member of county assembly, Peter Kareu, the people complained of deteriorating security and asked the police officers to increase surveillance.

“We want the police to tame rising cases of insecurity and arrest criminals. The killing of the young girl should never have happened and those behind the murder must be arrested and prosecuted,” the ward representative said.

The MCA said residents have a right to security and that they will not sit back and watch as criminals terrorise them.

The student, who went missing two weeks ago, was found murdered and dumped in Moto river on Monday.

Two other girls who are also missing from the same time have not been found and residents fear that they too might have been killed.

On Monday, Molo MP Jacob Macharia condemned the possible murder of the three students who were reported missing a fortnight ago.

Earlier, Molo administration police commandant Joseph Mwangi said investigations into the murder had been launched.
