A Mombasa court on Monday released on bond an elderly man facing charges of stealing money and property from a woman after a break-in.
Salim Juma Andidi was accused of stealing money and property worth more than Sh600,000 from Sarah Abdurrahman.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the crime on diverse dates between September 6 and 20 this year in Makadara, Mombasa County.
According to the prosecution, the accused stole Sh250,000 and goods valued at Sh601,000 from the woman.
The court heard that on the material date, the accused broke into Abdurrahman’s house while she was away. He was arrested by police officers after he was allegedly found in possession of the stolen items.
Andidi however denied the charges before the court and pleaded to be released on a reasonable bail term pending the next case hearing.
The court ordered for the accused to be released on a Sh1 million bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on November 9.
