Kisii Health minister Sarah Omanche has said the number of people who have embraced family planning in the county has risen from 46 per cent to 62.8 per cent.

Speaking Tuesday at Iyabe Hospital in Bonchari during the celebrations to mark Family Planning Day, Omanche said in 2008, the rate of family planning in the county was 46 per cent but this has risen to 67.3 per cent in 2015.

“Nationally, we have 58 per cent of the people who are using contraceptives. In Kisii, many people are embracing family planning hence the rising figures,” said the Health minister.

She added; “I am advising anybody who is at a reproductive age to embrace family planning as one way of getting a manageable number of children.”

Meanwhile, Leah Ogega, a family planning officer in the county challenged women to embrace the use of modern family planning methods.
