Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has criticised a section of leaders for promoting violence by using youths to heckle him during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour in Kikuyu last week.

Ichung’wa said that leaders need to work towards development and not use their powers to influence youths to interrupt meetings. He termed the act as barbaric and urged the leaders to fulfil their promises and to stop petty politics which results to poor development.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Kikuyu Constituency and officially launched Kenya National Farmers Federation Hotel in Thogoto last week.

The lawmaker cautioned youths to avoid leaders who use them to fulfil their malicious intentions urging them to embrace development and shun away from the cheap politics.

“Shun leaders whose intention is to use you for political gain which is unethical. Such leaders need to know Kiambu County and Kikuyu is free of petty politics and our aim is to move forward both economically and socially,” said Ichung’wa.

The MP who was speaking in Kikuyu Town on Monday expressed his concerns with the leaders who tend to mislead youths instead of eradicating crime and drug abuse.

Ichung'wa advised the youths not to allow divisions fostered by the political elite in the area.
