Kitutu Masaba MP has announced a mega project that will see a modern library build in Rigoma ward to promote learning in the region.
The library whose final architectural plan will be launched early November this year will be funded by the legislator and his 'friends' from United States of America.
Timothy Bosire, who revealed the plans on Thursday when he paid a courtesy call to Nyabiosi Secondary School said the learning and resource center’s objective is to see the region produce academicians who will help the region develop economically by coming with tangible ideas that will spur growth.
He said the project which will cost Sh20 million has received backing from Kenyans in US who promised to equip the library.
“The learning and resource center will be fundamental in promoting education standards in the region. It will be open for people who are undertaking studies at all levels and I am happy that a section of my friends from US have promised to help me equip the library,” he said.
According to the legislator, the decision to elevate the center at Rigoma was reached by academicians from the region.
“I hope the site of location should not be an issue for debate because I did thorough consultations especially from academicians. We want to use education as a weapon to spur growth in our constituency and county at large,” Bosire said.
He said the project is expected to be completed by 2016 December and subsequently opened to the public who will not be required to pay for the services.
“It is purely a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) project initiated by me therefore, no resident will be asked to pay for the services. It will be run by me using my own resources,” he said.
