A member of parliament from Nyamira County has been accused of neglecting certain sections of his constituency on grounds that he got few votes from the region in the 2013 elections.

Charles Geni of North Mugurango constituency is blamed of being an impediment to development in Nyamusi area, which is believed to have overwhelmingly opposed his candidature.

On Tuesday, residents of the region led by community leaders Erick Ogamba accused the legislator of neglecting the region and threatened to take legal actions against the MP’s administration.

“We are operating like orphans and this isn’t fair at all. The MP has completely neglected our region and that move is not only unconstitutional but also unacceptable. I would like to challenge him to rectify the issue before we seek legal aide over the same issue,” he said.

According to them, the MP allegedly issues bursaries to students after scrutinising the region they hail from besides cautioning CDF committee against initiating any real development in the region and its environs.

“He is a very cautious man and we know that. Our children have never received bursaries leave alone our schools. We have been operating in a very complicated ground and that is why we are calling for help from the government,” he added.

However, speaking in a separate function at Ikonge, Mr Geni dismissed the issues as ‘unfounded and fictitious’ besides blaming his competitors for allegedly inciting constituents against his leadership.
