The wife to Yatta MP Esther Mwangangi has urged parents to instill spiritual virtues to their children while young to ensure they grow to be responsible citizens.

Speaking during a meeting with women groups representatives in Yatta on Friday, Ms Mwangangi noted that parents neglect the responsibility making their children grow immoral leading to bad characters.

“Mothers, ensure you take your kids to church schools as early as possible and monitor their behaviors as they grow,” she said.

She added that the act will also contribute to performances in schools since discipline and obedience will be instilled in them in early stages.

The legislator's wife said that cases of defilement were increasingly being reported and urged parents to take responsibility of teaching kids moral values and consequences followed by the immoral acts.

"We need to protect our children from any harm as some of these acts affect them psychologically even in their old ages. The church is the only rescue center we have for them," she added.
