West Mugirango MP Dr. James Gesami has found himself in unusual position, after a section of area residents accused him of promoting clan hatred in the region by supporting only members of his clan.
Speaking on Wednesday at Kiambere village in West Mugirango constituency, area residents Gesami of promoting nepotism in the region by secluding members of Bosamaro clan from issues pertaining development.
According to them, the ODM legislator, who comes from predominant Bogichora clan has ignored the Bosaramaro region by diverting all viable projects that were commenced by former MP Henry Obwocha to his Bogichora region.
“As Abasamaro clan, we feel secluded by Gesami’s leadership since he has completely ignored our region and concentrated in his Bogichora region. This is completely unfair and he has to change his tactics. He must work for us without discrimination,” said John Moochi.
They said the actions by Dr. Gesami could be attributed to his political rivalry between him and former planning Minister Mr. Henry Obwocha who hails from the Bosamaro region.
“It is not our fault to be born in Bosamaro. If he had a grudge with our very own Mr. Obwocha, it is important that he excused poor residents from his unprecedented revenge,” added Joash Mogeni.
However, the legislator, through his personal assistant Mr. Alex Monyoncho refuted the claims and blamed Mr. Obwocha of inciting area residents.
“This is purely cheap politics because the MP is working for everyone regardless of the clan. The meeting was planned and funded by Mr. Obwocha who is trying to incite the two clans that have lived together peacefully for a long time,” he said.
