The suspect, a bodaboda operator, was nabbed by the angry residents in Kisumu Town and was later killed in Central Kisumu Ward, Kisumu West Sub-County.

He allegedly stabbed three people killing two on the spot last Saturday night. The survivor sustained serious injuries and is admitted at a local hospital.

The deceased, Philip Nyagol Muga and Richard Ang’ienda, died after they attempted to stop a fight between a woman and her husband.

The deceased ‘suspected murderer’, a relative of the fighting couple, reportedly hails from Western region.

Kisumu County assembly acting speaker Pamela Omino who is also the area ward representative yesterday termed the incident as unfortunate.

“It is very sad that those who went to separate the couples from fighting are the ones who got killed,” she said.

Omino said the act angered locals who later raided the home of the suspect and found various crude weapons. She said the death of the two village elders who are also brothers has left a void in the community.

She had earlier asked the police to ensure that the suspect was apprehended.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Joseph Keitany confirmed the incident. He said the bodies are at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
