The government has been urged not to target Muslims while fighting terrorism, since it just a religion like any other.

Speaking in Cheptiret Centre on Tuesday, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi said that Muslims have always been blamed when it comes to terror attacks that have hit the country in recent days claiming many innocent lives

“The government is to blame for the security laxity that has hit our country, someone is sleeping on the job, since the president is the commander in chief, he must come up with a strategy that will involve security agents in all the forty seven counties,” he said.

He further added that a direct link with local leaders such as chiefs and county commissioners who will always report to the president directly on the situation at local levels will help bridge the gap in the security system.

“Since they have direct contact with the local Mwananchi, this will ensure that he is able to know the security situation at grass root level thus attacks that have been witnessed will be a thing of the past,” he added.

He also urged the migration department to do thorough scrutiny of all identity card applicants and make sure that they are authentic, and should be given without favour

“Corruption is rampant in the migration department, many legal documents are given through the back door, how can they allow terrorists to get access to our identify cards and yet we have officers who are paid for the work, something has to be done,” he reiterated.

He also reiterated that Muslims and Christians should live as brothers and sisters regardless of their political and religious affiliations, and should not allow politicians to use them for their own selfish benefits.
