Thika West OCPD Erastus Muthamia has warned criminals causing havoc in the area at night, saying they will be dealt with accordingly.
The officer, speaking to the residents of Majengo over the weekend at a security meeting, said that they have reports of criminal gangs operating in the area especially at night.
Muthamia added that strategic measures have been put in place to curb criminal elements in the sub-county and prosecute those involved.
“We have mapped out areas where criminals are said to be causing havoc in some parts of Thika. Strategies are in place to ensure we curb the incidences and apprehend the culprits,” he said.
Muthamia said that security officers will not tolerate crime and that anyone engaging in it must surrender immediately or change ways as they won’t be given space anymore.
He said that law enforcers will conduct security swoops on a 24-hour basis in a bid to tame crime immediately adding that he directives from the county commissioner’s office to deal with crime decisively after she was heckled in a public meeting in Thika earlier last week.
The OCPD at the same time appealed to the youths in the area to desist from crime. He said that young people are being used as weapons of crime.
“My appeal is to young people to stay away from people who would want to use them as weapons of crime,” he said.
