Nyanza Regional Coordinator Francis Mutie has called on residents to collaborate with security agencies in fighting insecurity.

Mutie who spoke on Thursday said it was only through collaboration that peace can be realised.

“All security arms have to work together as a family and this will be for the good of the locals who we also expect to work with law enforcers," Mutie said.

"The government has been working towards a better scheme for us and we have no option other than work together to stem any criminal related activities that may be arising. We should be extra vigilant."

He was speaking in Nyamira town during a security meeting.

He said the country can not afford to relapse after experiencing peace.

Besides, he cautioned authorities to be vigilant due to an increase in defilement cases in the region.

He told residents to report to police officers incidents of insecurity so that appropriate action can be taken.

He also said the war on illicit brew was far from over.

“The war on illicit brew is on and it is our task to ensure Kenya is alcohol free," he added.

He also urged the security officers to always make use of information received either from locals or any citizen as it may help boost the security of the nation.

Nyamira County Commissioner Josephine Onunga highlighted the importance of devotion towards securing Kenya.

“Business is not going to be as usual, those criminals challenging the police should be dealt with until calm and security is restored," she said.

"The government has given us powers to work as a family and therefore nobody should hinder you from performing your mandate," she said.
