Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Wednesday launched a Sh2.5 million water project to serve several parts of the county.

Mutua said the initiative was focused on connecting all homes across the county with clean piped water.

Mutua also presented 100 new bore holes and 105 dams that had been constructed by the Machakos government two months ago.

He said piped water would flow from taps in every household within a kilometre radius of the new bore holes in the next one week.

The programme was launched at Katine in Matungulu Sub County, Kawethei in Kangundo Sub County and Mutituini in Machakos Sub County.

Mutua disclosed that 76 silted dams had also been rehabilitated by his government.

He said the county government had a target of constructing more than 600 new bore holes by December to add to the 746 already operational ones.

Mutua said he is focused on promoting transformative leadership to accelerate development in the county so as to improve living standards of the residents. Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Wednesday launched a Sh2.5 million water project to serve several parts of the county.
