Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has suspended the Kangundo Level Four hospital administrator and subsequently appointed an eight member task force to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of six children at the health facility.
Mutua said the hospital Administrator Lawrence Mulungye has been sent on a month suspension to pave way for investigations.
"The cleaning up of Machakos County will continue and thus people who are not serious with their work and corrupt will not be spared," said Mutua.
The task force will be led by the minister for health in the county alongside seven others.
Addressing a news conference at his office in Machakos town on Tuesday, Mutua said the task force is expected to investigate what happened, who was responsible and which systems failed.
He added that the team will give recommendations on how to improve the quality of services in the county.
The governor also suspended four officers at Kathiani hospital among them the hospital administrator for one month for alleged dereliction of duty leading to pathetic services and condition in the hospital.
This comes a day after he sent home Masinga sub-county hospital administrator Arnold Mbole and a driver for allegedly trying to divert 80 bags of cement meant for the construction of river dams in Kithyoko in Masinga sub-county.
Two officers, Abubakar Muli from Matungulu sub-county and Michael Muasya from Mavoko sub-county were also dismissed for taking bribes from contractors of buildings in the county.
