Mwala sub-county Water and Sanitation Company chairman Shadrack Muya has cautioned residents against illegal connection of water.
Speaking at Wamuyu trading centre on Monday, the official decried rising cases of illegal water connections.
He said that it is illegal for residents to connect to water supply without the company’s authorisation.
Muya said that investigations have been launched and those found to be engaging in such acts will be arrested and prosecuted.
He said that the company is losing a lot of money as a result of illegal connections.
“The company has started investigations into illegal water connections, let the culprits involved know that we are coming for them,” he warned.
Muya urged the public to report illegal connections saying that they are the reason to frequent water cuts.
He also asked the residents to remit their monthly water service payment to enable smooth running of services.
Muya also warned defaulters of water bills saying that action will be taken against them.
He noted that defaulters owe the company a lot of money which if not collected will paralyse services.
