The Naivasha Buffalo Mall is set to be opened to the public in November, officials have said.

Buffalo Mall Development Ltd director Simon Trappes-Lomax said that the first phase of the mall will be fully operational by the end of November this year.

“The construction plans are going very well. With the additional financial backing of Housing Finance Kenya, this has given the project a boost to have the first phase completed,” said Trappes-Lomax.

Phase one of Buffalo Mall is situated on a six-hectare site and will host a leading national supermarket brand. It will also include restaurants, leisure facilities and offices.

Trappes-Lomax added the project will also see the creation of hundreds of jobs for residents from the area. The complex, in its plans also includes the construction of apartments, a 100-bed hotel and a conferencing facility that can host up to 450 people.

Governor Kinuthia Mbugua welcomed the progress report, saying this is a true indicator of the potential the county has in store for investors.

The governor said: “As a county we are very excited with this developments. This shows the confidence the private sector has in our county and its policies.

“We look forward to its completion because this is a high impact development which will benefit the people of Naivasha and all who will come to do business in this unique and modern set up.”

The entire complex will be constructed on an 18-hectare parcel of land on the North West edge of Naivasha town, next to the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
