Naivasha MP John Kihagi has disclosed that the Naivasha Technical College has received Sh100 million from the National Government.
Speaking on Saturday at Longonot area in Naivasha Sub-County during a tour of the institution, Kihagi said the college will address the challenge of access to technical training faced by local youth.
"The college will provide the necessary skills to local and Nakuru youth to enable them to be job creators," said Kihagi.
Kihagi praised the government for provision of tertiary education in the area and said this will go in enhancing vocational training to the youth.
"The National Government has provided technical training to youth with a view of empowering them," he added.
He said the college which will open its doors to learners in January, will be equipped with modern training equipment and urged youth to take the advantage of the facility to enrol in different courses.
"There is need for the youth to enrol in technical and vocational education which will prepare them for specific trades, and crafts," Kihagi said.
He noted that the labour market has become more specialised and requires higher levels of skill with governments and businesses increasingly investing in the future of vocational education through publicly funded training colleges.
