Nakuru County church leaders on Thursday called upon all people within and outside the county to participate in prayers for the nation.
Speaking at Nuru hotel in Nakuru Town, church leaders, through Apostle John Kimani of Nakuru Kingdom Seekers Church asked the public to fully take part in the National Prayer Conference which will commence on August 3 and end on August 9.
"We want to have a whole week where we as a nation can seek God's intervention on various issues affecting the country," he added.
He explained that people do not have to wait for calamities to happen so that they pray but, they need to continuously seek God for the many problems affecting the nation such as insecurity, corruption and many others.
Kimani added that they also need to pray for the forthcoming elections for peace to prevail, revealing that the church in Kenya will hold nationwide prayer and fasting for 40 days starting from July 1 to August 9 to pray for the country.
Nakuru County deputy governor Joseph Ruto, who was also present at the event, said that the county government is fully supporting the prayers.
