The Nakuru County government has received a Sh88 million grant from the Danish International Development Agency's (Danida) Health Sector Service Fund.

Confirming receipt of the funds, Nakuru’s finance, budget and implementation committee chairman Moses Ndung’u told the county assembly that the money will be spent on improving health services delivery.

“I am pleased to inform this house that we have received a grant from Danida. This money will go towards improving our health sector for it to offer improved health services to the citizens of this county,” said Ndung’u.

In accepting the grant, nominated MCA Catherine Waweru said, "Nakuru County has a high number of people living with HIV and there is need to reduce this percentage. These funds will go a long way in addressing the health challenges."

Waweru urged the budget committee to allocate more funds to equip all health centres with dialysis machines. The county has already allocated Sh10 million for the purchase of the machines.
