A man accused of pickpocketing at the Nakuru law courts has been denied bail pending investigations by the prosecution.

Dominic Bett is accused of stealing a mobile phone and cash Sh11,000 belonging to Margret Wandwa on August 12 at the Nakuru law courts.

According to the prosecution, Wandwa was standing at the entrance a courtroom when Bett allegedly stole from her. Wandwa immediately reported the incident at the Nakuru Central Police Station and Bett was tracked using the mobile phone.

The court also heard that there have been many other cases of theft in courtrooms.

State prosecutor Chief Inspector Sirorei Rop made an application that Bett be denied bail in order to provide the prosecution time to complete investigations.

“We requested the court to give us a week to complete our investigations regarding the matter, the court is a public place and we might have other complainants,” he said

Appearing before Principle Magistrate Bernard Ndenda, Bett pleaded not guilty. The case will be heard on heard on September 29.
