Nakuru County is among the beneficiaries of the countrywide teacher recruitment exercise announced by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Monday.

According to the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia, 5000 teachers were destined for recruitment to help cub the growing teacher shortage across the nation.

“This exercise is for any qualified teacher both in Primary and Secondary level,” she said.

Adding that “any candidate who had previously applied but was unsuccessful can reapply for reconsideration.”

In the 2,338 secondary school teachers’ slots and 2662 primary slots, Nakuru County will benefit with 96 slots.

Meru, Makueni, Bungoma, Murang’a, Kakamega and Kitui were the largest beneficiaries each getting 140, 115, 120, 118, 128 and 107 respectively.

Nyamira, Murang'a, Kisii Nyeri and Kirinyaga are among the counties have each been allocated less than 15 slots at 20 each while Samburu and Tana River counties that arguably need the lions share in regard to their levels of education having been allocated the least slots of nine teachers each.

The TSC boss further advised all candidates interested in the primary school slots to submit their documents to the TSC County Director at their respective County Headquarters and must submit all relevant academic and professional testimonials.
