“We do not refuse to be criticised on social media. However, we are appealing to the social media users to ensure that they use a language that is clean,” he said. Kinuthia was speaking at Water Buck Hotel in Nakuru after meeting The Nakuru Analyst, a social media group. He praised Nakuru youths for the initiative. The governor pointed out that the use of rude language will affect the credibility and the seriousness of the issues being discussed.

“It’s clear that the youths are taking their positions. These are very good initiatives that will keep the government in check and give us a proper platform to evaluate ourselves,” said Kinuthia. He also appealed to the users to ensure that the information placed on their websites was backed up by facts. “It is important to ensure that whatever you post can be verified and can stand the test of time. Otherwise it is unfortunate that some people do not even mind the use of profanity which has a negative impact on the people involved,” noted Kinuthia.
