Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has asked women groups in Elburgon to apply for state funds in order to grow their projects.

Speaking after presiding over a forum dubbed “Acceleration of Rural Women’s Access to Agricultural Markets and Trade” in Elburgon on Tuesday, the governor observed that the government has set aside enough funds to empower women by financing their projects.

“I want to ask women groups to take advantage of the development funds being given by the government to start various projects. Utilising such funds will be of great help for women who have business ideas and group projects,” he said.

The governor added that his county government will support development projects initiated by women.

He urged women groups to venture into agricultural projects in order to boost food security, adding that the county has reliable climate for agriculture.

Uwezo Funds is the latest government kitty that aims to finance businesses by women and the youth in every constituency in the country. At least Sh6 billion has been dispersed by the Treasury to constituency offices.
