Nakuru residents have accused the county government of failing to erect sign posts warning motorists about bumps recently erected along Oginga Odinga Street.

Motorists in the town say the bumps at Section 58 adjacent to the Delux Hotel were a real nightmare. "The problem is the location and lack warning signs. You can’t note them from a distance," said Vincent Cheloti, who says first timers on the road are the most affected.

He called for immediate action by the relevant authorities saying that the bumps were a disaster in waiting. "If sign posts are too expensive for them, let them use the normal white or yellow paint to help drivers note them from a reasonable distance," he said.

He lamented that the bumps were causing more wear and tear on their vehicles. Ms Anne Wangare, a banker in town says that she has almost caused accidents on three occasions at the spot.

"The rains have made it even worse because you cannot apply emergency brakes because the road is always very slippery," she said.

She says that she has learnt to live with them for she uses the road on a daily basis but pities learners and first timers.

Eng Maina Kairu, a director in the county roads and planning ministry noted that the area was to be rectified in due time.

"We are liaising with the contractor who initiated the project so there should be nothing to worry about," he noted.

The road is among the major roads recently renovated by the county government around town and its outskirts.
