Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko has lauded residents for cooperating with the police in the fight against crime.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, Kioko said members of the public in Nakuru Town have helped the police in their work.

Kioko said the area has received minimal crime rates in the last three months.

He said the public has been volunteering information and tip offs that has helped thwart crime and arrest perpetrators.

Kioko said that such good working relationships between the police and the public will help streamline security if maintained.

“As police officers we have established a good working relationship with the public which has helped us in our efforts to fight crime and the unlawful acts,” he said.

Kioko said security in the area will be heightened if residents continue to give information on whereabouts of criminals.

He said that members of the public will not be intimated and harassed when giving information.

“The police force has changed and members of the public are guaranteed of their protection when giving tip offs,” he said.

Kioko at the same time lauded residents for giving out information on illicit brewers which he said helped law enforcers during the recent crackdown on illicit brews.

He called on Nakuru residents to remain peaceful saying that the police will make sure that their security is guarded on a 24 hour basis.

At the same time Kioko called for counselling of alcohol addicts within the area. He noted that there are many addicts who need counselling and other rehabilitation needs.
