Police in Nakuru have arrested three suspects in connection to a car theft syndicate with operations in Nairobi, Nakuru and Eldoret.

The three were arrested at Kaptembwa estate in Nakuru by plain-clothes officers as they tried to dismantle vehicles they had purportedly stolen.

The suspects were netted in an operation conducted by police where several other vehicles, which could also have been stolen, were recovered.

Confirming the arrests, Nakuru divisional police boss Bernard Kioko said they conducted an operation at the garage after they were tipped by members of the public.

Kioko revealed that the suspects have been stealing cars in several towns and selling them across borders.

The police boss observed that the suspects have escaped police dragnets for months. He added that the syndicate gang is notorious and dangerous.

Police also recovered several electronic goods during the operation. The goods could have been stolen from the car owners or using the cars.

The Criminal Investigation Department officers are interrogating the suspects, who will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
