The government of Japan has granted Sh2.5 million to Bondeni primary school in Nakuru for the expansion and rehabilitation of learning facilities at the school.

Speaking when handing over of the cheque, Japanese ambassador to Kenya Tatsushi Terada said the money is part of a grant that the Japanese government has been extending to local non-profit organisations since 1989.

Terada said the Japanese government will continue supporting such institutions to uplift the standards of the less fortunate in Kenya.

Bondeni primary head teacher, James Cheboi, said the money will be used specifically for development projects in the school.

Project co-ordinator Masayuki Tottori said most of the school’s structures were run down and they will be reconstructed afresh.
