Nakuru County Youth Bunge Forum chairman Philip Ngo’k has urged the county government to fast-track youth development agenda and help address the challenges facing the youth.
Speaking to journalists at Nakuru Town on Friday, Ngo’k said the Youth Forum has written to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua asking him to implement projects that will help promote youth development and empowerment.
He said much has not been achieved in relation to youth empowerment and development in the county.
“It has been two years of devolved governance but less has been achieved in relation to empowering young people,” he said.
The Youth Bunge chairman asked the county government to start projects that will involve youths.
He noted that thousands of youths in the county are still languishing in unemployment.
“Our government must be active and initiate projects that will create jobs and benefit the youths,” said Ngo’k.
The chair however said they will work with the government closely to find lasting solutions to unemployment and other challenges facing young people in the county.
At the same time, Ngo’k asked youth to take advantage of the few opportunities that government has initiated to improve their livelihoods.
He said the existence of Uwezo Fund and the 3o per cent tenders will help reduce the high level of unemployment and joblessness.
