The Director of Nakuru Rural Water and Sanitation Company (Naruwasco) Reuben Korir has said the company has increased its output to cater for increased water demand in the county.
He was Speaking on Wednesday at Kasino Shopping Center in Molo during a consultative meeting with Molo residents on the best way to improve access of clean water. Korir said that the company is committed to providing improved water and sanitation services.
“We have increased our output by 13 percent to address the water shortage," said Korir.
He called on the residents to manage the scarce commodity to improve their lives and allow the company to reach more people. .
Korir said that the company has launched several flagship projects to address the challenges of water in the whole county.
“Rehabilitation and expansion of urban water supply have been the areas we are concentrating on right now," he revealed.
Korir outlined challenges facing the company, among them old supply systems, leakages, low billing, lack of efficient transportation, and illegal water connections.
He said that despite financial challenges the company needed to hire more skilled manpower to address the challenges facing the company .
“We require well trained personnel to ensure the issue of water is properly addressed," he stressed.
Korir expressed optimism that the county government would increase its allocation to the company to cope with challenges facing it .
Naruwasco covers a large of area of the rural Nakuru and part of the town while at the same time supporting irrigation.
