The Kenya National Library is set to launch the construction of a multi-million National Library in Nyamira County that will offer library services easily instead of travelling to Kisii town, Kenya Library Chairman has said.

Speaking on Saturday at Nyabogoe village in Gesima ward during a fund drive for a local choir, Sam Nyangeso said the multi-million library will be launched in August, and is set to be operational before the end of the financial year 2015/16.

He said the decision was arrived at after several county residents complained of being forced to seek Library services at neighbouring Kisii town even with its high population.

“As a board, we have received several suggestions and complaints from local residents, but I want to assure you today that we will launch building of the Library in August and the President is aware of that. The government supports information gathering and that is why we are concerned,” he said.

Nyang’eso, who also served as Kisii Town Mayor in the defunct municipal governments urged locals to give President Kenyatta humble time to deliver on his promises, besides calling the opposition to work with the government.

“These are some of the services that the government is launching for its people across the nation. We ought to be patient and give the Jubilee government humble time to deliver. The opposition is always welcome to work with the government for the benefit of our people,” he said.
