Ndeiya residents in Limuru on Thursday received dairy goats and indigenous chicken in the second phase of Ndeiya Integrated Food Security Programme.
Each farmer received ten chickens with goats going to registered groups in the programme that is aimed at increasing accessibility to sufficient and nutritious food.
The programme was launched in the area early this year by the State Department of Livestock and Agriculture before it is spread to other parts of the country.
Speaking during the event, area MCA Nelson Munga urged youths to register groups which will enable them to be incorporated in the programme.
"Do not sit there and say that there are no jobs. Farming can give you a full time employment. Though this is a national government programme, agriculture is devolved and that is why we fully support the State in making the dream a reality," said Munga.
Munga asked those who are interested in the farming to seek the area MP's office assistance in registering the groups before they are vetted for the program thereafter.
