Couples in Banana location have been advised to solve their differences amicably in order to avoid resorting to violence as an option.
Speaking on Sunday afternoon during a counselling session at the Anglican Church of Kenya ( ACK) Banana Parish, Rev. Paul Kinyanjui said couples needed to settle their differences in a civilised manner or visit a marriage counsellor whenever they had a problem.
He noted that children who witnessed violence learnt to believe that it was the only way to solve conflicts and that they did exactly the same thing when they grew up. The Reverend also observed that traditional beliefs and inferiority complex in education also contributed to domestic violence as one who was lower in academics felt inferior to the other partner. He added that couples should live according to Gods will and follow the vows they made at the altar if they wished to maintain the union.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Madegwa who are residents of Banana in relation to the matter said they had been married for 8yrs and had experienced problems in their marriage but they solved them in a calm way.
The couple advised young people who wanted to get married to take the time to know their partners well before making any longtime commitments to avoid regrets in future.
