Parents and teachers’ negative attitude towards education has been blamed for County’s dismal performance in Kenya National Examinations.
According to St Charles Lwanga Secondary school Board Chairperson, Nicholas Osoro said this became clear when her department conducted a series of stakeholders meetings to discuss the plight of education in the area.
While addressing the public at the Kisii County Social Hall on Wednesday he said all parents in the county should have positive thoughts towards education for this will improve the performance of students.
The Chairperson said there was a chance to improve if only the teachers and parents would heed to advice from colleagues who had excelled in the same Examinations.
“Though education is still a function of the National Government, we as education leaders of this region cannot watch things go wrong in the education sector. This is because we have identified education as the main enabler to achieving development for our citizens,” he added.
He called upon the county education officials in coordination with parents and teachers to give students motivation so that they can have positive attitude towards education.
