Ahadi Kenya executive director Stanley Kamau has challenged NGOs in the country to prioritise development projects instead of playing politics.

Speaking at Tumaini primary school in Molo, Kamau said NGOs should come up with structures to enhance better operations, both at the national and county governments.

"There are more NGOs in the country that can improve livelihoods of Kenyans if they stick to their objectives. However, it is worrying that most of them concentrate on political issues facing the country at the expense of development," he observed.

Kamau donated 1,580 shoes to vulnerable families at Tumaini and Nguzu primary schools. He pointed out that shoes will improve sanitation of students and prevent infections, which will enhance good academic performance.

The director also decried the political heat facing the country, saying it has highly affected development projects. He said that it is worrying that one year after elections, political leaders have taken the country back to an election mood, causing anxiety and tension among Kenyans.

"The latest hard-line stance by politicians is the main cause of anxiety. This has seen operations grind to a standstill,” added Kamau.

He said there is need for leaders to unite Kenyans despite their political differences.
