Kiambu County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo has directed chiefs not to relent on the war against illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mr Nkoyo said the fight against illicit brews will not stop warning that those found to be making and selling illegal brews will be dealt with according to the law.

Mr Nkoyo stated that he will work with other government agencies to make sure that Kiambu is free from illicit brews.

“We are not going to relent on the fight against illicit brews, we are determined to end the illegal practice,” he said.

The county commissioner at the same time warned chiefs allegedly colluding with illicit brewers saying that they will be sacked.

“Chiefs who want to protect illicit brew makers and sellers should know that they will be sent packing immediately,” he warned.

The county commissioner also warned bars and pubs operating illegally saying that they will be closed down.

He said a crackdown to get rid of illegal bars and pubs will be launched across the county.

Mr Nkoyo appealed to residents to report people they suspect are engaging in illicit brew making and selling for action to be taken.
