Veteran Kisii politician Simeon Nyachae has offered to build a Sh10 million centre for good governance that will be act as the school for students interested in political science at Kisii University.

Speaking at the institution when he paid vice-chancellor Prof John Akama a courtesy call on Tuesday, the former cabinet minister said the move was occasioned by the limited facilities in the institution in which he trained when it was a primary school.

He said the building would be a big boost to students studying political science besides acting as a centre of promoting peace and integrity among Kenyan young scholars.

“The construction must kick off immediately because I have put everything in place," he said.

"I studied here many years ago and I thought it was wise to live something behind for temperance. It will be purely a building for the study of political science and current affairs. I also encourage the management to consider using it as a center for integration among our children from different backgrounds,” Nyachae said.

Nyachae challenged students to be in the frontline in promoting peaceful coexistence among communities in the country to avert any possibility of tribal animosity.

“Good governance starts with children. How you approach issues in college determines a lot the kind of person you will be in future. We must preach peace amongst ourselves,” he said.

Prof Akama lauded the veteran politician for his contribution to the society and urged students to emulate him by promoting good governance once they get to management in various fields.
