Speaking on Monday at the scene where a body of a middle aged man was discovered, the locals directed their fury to local administration and police, accusing them of ignorance and incompetence.

According to them, the deceased; Zachary Onkoba might have been attacked by a group of armed robbers who have been executing such crimes in the region, despite raised concerns by residents.

“The government must rise up to the occasion and help us curb the insecurity. There is a gang that is giving us sleepless nights and now we can see the repercussions. The government must intervene and make provincial administration and the police work efficiently for us,” said Patrick Achira.

He asked the government to further probe the conduct of Chepilat police officers and area Chief David Ogega, for allegedly failing to whip out the gang despite reporting the incidents sequentially to them.

“We don’t have faith in the police officers nor the area chief. They have failed to respond to our calls and the major concern here is that we may continue to be killed in the presence of the government. They should be investigated because it’s like they are aware of what is happening,” added Josephine Ondimu.

However, Mwongori location chief Mr. Ogega defended the administration from the claims, and asked locals to work together for the sake of whipping the criminals out of the village.

“We ought to stop blame games and work as a team to arrest these people and subject them to the due process,” he said.
