Youth in Nyalenda area in Kisumu County have accused MCAs of not representing their views adequately in the county assembly.
Kisumu County Nyalenda Youth Association chairperson Francis Otoyo speaking on Tuesday at Nyalenda B Ward, challenged area MCAs to include them in decision making stating that they were neglected and the area leadership never involved them in most of their agenda.
He said local leaders should come to the aid of a great number of youths lying idle in estates and help them to acquire skills that would enable them engage in self-employment.
“We are so disappointed in our leaders, they not engage the youth, and most of the youthful labour force is left idle, which if sufficiently utilised can see economy of our area grow a great deal," he said.
"A government or leadership that neglects its young people can never grow fully as their ideas are left to lie fallow,” Otoyo added.
Nyalenda B, MCA Paul Were denied neglecting the youth in the area when HiviSasa reached him on phone.
He said that one of the major projects they were working on was youth empowerment and asked the youth to stay calm and help them achieve the plan he says is ongoing.
