Author and motivational speaker Joseph Nyatwoni has urged students to avoid engaging in pre-marital sex if they want to improve their performance in examinations.

He said engaging in early sex, beer, and copying of bad behavior among school-going students hinder many of them from realising their goals in education.

“I know it is tempting but if you would hold on a little the better. Many students that are engaging in pre-marital sex have shown to perform dismally,” he said.

Mr Nyatwoni was speaking yesterday during a prizegiving event at Naikuru PAG secondary school, Nyacheki, in Nyamache sub-county.

The author has written several Kiswahili books for primary and secondary schools in the country.

The school posted 8.9 in the means score, an improvement from the previous year’s result of 7.4 to take the second slot in the area - a result the school head, Chamuchi Paul, was proud of.

Assistant sub-county commissioner, Mr Daniel Malonze, who attended the function, warned students from being lured into Al Shabaab ranks.

“We are aware you may be cheated and play into the hands of this terror group, but I warn you do not be cheated,” he said.

He said the many Kenyan students were into the Somali-based jihadist group but warned that the government would not slack to act.
