Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati has rolled out a youth enterprise programme that will see youths get easy access to interest-free loans.
Speaking on Tuesday at his backyard in Magambo, the former legislator said the move will target over 500 youths who will be interested in taking the loans for farming among other businesses.
He said the programme will be rolled out in all the five sub-counties of Nyamira County with each sub-county receiving Sh1 million.
“I have been in leadership for a long time and I want to give back to the society," Nyambati said.
"The programme that I am launching today targets youths who will be in need of asking for loans to participate in businesses. The programme will not require them to return with interest.”
He urged the youth to seize the opportunity and come up with viable projects that will impress, besides promising to increase funding if the programme yields fruits.
“This is the right time to have youths seize the opportunity. They will come with programs that will yield something worthwhile and this is the moment that I have been waiting for. I will increase the amount by double if the programme succeeds,” he said.
The programme is part of the wider campaign for gubernatorial post according to resident political analyst Mr Maina Nyabuti with the former legislator keen to defeat the incumbent Governor John Nyagarama.
“It’s important that the programme is set to help our youths but on the other hand, he is preparing for gubernatorial seat in 2017,” Nyabuti told Hivisasa.com.
