The Nyamira CeC for finance and economic planning John Omanwa has released a Sh5.54 billion budget for the 2015/16 financial year.
Addressing the packed county assembly on Wednesday, Omanwa, who was earlier on faulted for diverting development money to recurrent expenditure, said that the budget when compared with the previous one could improve the livelihood of the county residents is implemented to the letter.
In his budget, the Health care sector took the lion’s share where an estimated Sh1.5 billion was allocated towards the department.
The other beneficiary was the infrastructure which also received a total of Sh642 million which will ensure that roads are given the first priority as it’s the central nervous of any development of any government.
Sh32 million will go to the construction of county stadium at Manga Sub County in the second phase.
Education sector was also not left behind as a total amount of Sh490 million for employment of new early childhood development education (E.C.D.E) teachers and bursary kitty to aid the needy cases among the residents.
The youths and gender department was among the departments which received less amount compared to the previous budget.
Among other reasons given for this reduction, the department if the last financial year was not able to utilize the funds allocated to them as only 12 per cent of the total amount allocated to the department was used.
“In a nutshell, 32 per cent of the budget will be going to all salaries, 22 per cent will be utilized for operations, and 46 per cent to be used on development for this financial year,” he concluded.
