A contractor from Ritibo village in Nyamira County risks being arrested for allegedly doing shoddy work following pressure from area residents and Gesima MCA.

Jared Mouko who was obligated to build a market shade for small scale traders from the region is said to have gone contrary to the initial agreement between his company and the Nyamira county government.

On Sunday, several area residents led by Ken Atuti called for his apprehension besides asking relevant authorities to revoke the registration of the accused company and subsequently blacklisting it from Nyamira Contractors Association.

“This is not what was agreed between him and the county. He was asked to construct a shade using bricks and to make sure it would be able to accommodate at least 50 traders in this trading center. I call upon relevant authorities against Jubilee Outlets and its subsequent ban for the Nyamira county contractors association,” Atuti said.

They further asked the county government to revoke the contract and subsequently advertise it for serious contractors to take over.

“This is a major trading center and traders need a quality shade urgently to shelter themselves from rains of sun. Therefore, the contract should be re-advertised for serious residents to be given the opportunity,” said Raphael Mokogoti.

However, Mouko defended himself from the scathing attack and asked residents to give him time since the county had not released 250,000khs that they had agreed on.

“I am on the process of completing the task and it is only that I have been delayed by the county government. All will be well soon,” he said.
