The county government of Nyamira has finally purchased machines that will be used to build and to repair roads in the county, among them a grader and rollers.
The county government is said to have spent close to Sh56 million in buying the machines and the vehicles that the county officials will use to inspect roads as the construction continues.
Speaking when he officially commissioned the machines, Nyamira County governor John Nyagarama said that the repair and construction of the roads is aimed at easing transportation across the county.
He noted that there have been complains from county residents over poor road networks in Nyamira, and assured them that the county is now well equipped and that roads shall be worked on and to standard.
“There have been claims that the governor does not want to construct roads in the county. We are now here and we have as a county bought four tippers, a grader and rollers to be used for road construction across the county,” said the governor.
He also told county residents to report anyone who will use the tippers for private reasons, saying action will be taken against them.
The county’s acting Roads Minister Janet Komenda also said that they will ensure the roads are built to standard, and further asked the residents not to 'dig up' the roads during the Elnino rains as the county government will be working on it.
