The Nyamira County Public Service Board (CPSB) has yet again found itself on the receiving end of scathing criticism over the criteria used in absorbing successful candidates in various county jobs.

Speaking on Wednesday at Omobirone Church during a fundraiser, Borabu residents led by former councillor, Elijah Patel said the board is being used by members of the executive to decide individuals to be employed.

They say the board has lost its credibility by discriminating certain regions citing Borabu constituency as the most underprivileged in all the appointments.

“The CPSB is becoming a pointing authority of the executive. They are no longer impartial as per the law and they are supervised on who to be employed contrary to the law. Borabu has been the victim and we wonder how long the discrimination will take,” he said.

According to Patel, the recently concluded interviews on the department of Health saw people from other regions deployed in most dispensaries in the region despite the region having produced qualified candidates.

“I am seriously wondering what criteria used to absorb workers. We are not happy that some of our children were denied chances to get employment in the Ministry of Health yet they were qualified. We have done an assessment and we can substantiate that Borabu was given a raw deal,” he said.

However, Nyamira CPSB Deputy Secretary Jerusha Momanyi denied the claims and said the board gave jobs to the most qualified people.

“We tried to be as balanced as possible. All regions were given slots and it was not necessary that you are deployed in your home sub-county. We also went for the most qualified,” she said.
