Police in Nyamira district on Thiursday arrested a middle aged woman for conning Nyamira residents money promising to secure them jobs in Nakuru provincial hospital.
Confirming the incident Nyamira OCPD Rico Ngare said that the woman who has been claiming to be a clinical officer visited residents at Rirumi SDA Church and told them that Nakuru provincial hospital is recruiting medical staffs including lab technicians, nurses and secretaries.
She said residents willing to get those positions should pay Sh7,500 for uniforms and Sh10,000 for accommodation promising that the monthly salary will be 28,700.
“So far the suspect has already conned residents Sh175,000 because each of the victims had given her between Sh10,000 to Sh45,000, ” said Ngare.
Ngare also disclosed that after further interrogation, they found the suspect with documents she claimed to be hers. One of them was a certificate in medical and Diploma in Surgery which the officer termed as suspicious.
“We suspect the documents to be fake but we are going on with investigation and the woman is expected to be arraigned before court on Friday,” added Ngare.
Some of the victims have recorded statements with the CID in Nyamira.
